Mutual Aid Food Willesden Newsletter #7

9th June 2020 / VOL 7

Dear Neighbour,

We hope you are doing well 😊

We had a great week last week continuing to support our neighbours in need.

Brent is the second most culturally diverse borough in the UK and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity is not only one of our greatest strengths and assets, but valued by all of us who live and work here. Respect for equality is at the heart of what Brent stands for.

At Mutual Aid Food Willesden we absolutely stand together for supporting black lives, for equality, and are committed to helping anyone and everyone that needs support during this time.

Thank you so much to the talented community sewing group @sewing_for_our_nhs_barnet who made these masks specially for us, to protect our volunteers at the food hub!

COMING SOON - MAFW Raffle!

We're really excited to let you know that we will soon be running an MAFW raffle! All proceeds from the raffle will go towards Mutual Aid Food Willesden, continuing to run the food hub and supporting those who need us. Here's a sneak peek of some of the prizes we have so far... 😉

Are you able to donate a prize?

We are keen to secure as many prizes as possible to make this raffle super special! We have had some incredible prizes donated already, but if you have something you could donate then please do get in touch! It could be a product, a service, a gift voucher or anything you can think of that would make a great prize.

Please drop us a note at MutualAidFoodWillesden@gmail.com if you have a prize to donate!

Planting CommuniTREEs

We had a great response to our recent campaign to plant a CommuniTREE 🌳

Volunteers have been busy getting their hands dirty and adding the green back into Willesden Green down at the Pakistan Community Centre where the food hub is located!

Are you, or do you or know of, a student who has a little more time on their hands at the moment and needs something to do? If so, get in touch! We have lots of volunteering opportunities available from packing boxes in the food hub, driving to deliver food boxes to those in need, and even social media support and website design/management.

Volunteering is a great way to boost your CV whilst helping the local community and making new friends 👫🏿👍😄

You can find out more info and fill out our volunteering forms here on our website.

Success story

We had an amazing donation of 2 pallets of cookies and 1 pallet of cakes last week from McVities! Extra special yummy treat to add into the food boxes. Thank you so much, McVities team! 😋🍪🙏

Heartfelt thanks

We're loving Olive's thank you painting on behalf of Ealing Food Bank 😍🌈☀️
